Massachusetts
Retailers Avoid Fines with Price Verification Systems Using
Our QL 320.
On Dec. 15, 2003, an amendment to a current
pricing law went into effect in Massachusetts. The law being
amended stated that retailers needed to “price an item
individually by means of a pricing tag or sticker appended
to the item, or by printing the price on the product or its
packaging” (940 CMR 3.13 -- Pricing and Refund, Return
and Cancellation Privileges). With the new amendment, a retailer
can avoid fines by offering in-store kiosks where customers
can find out an item’s price and print out a price label.
A few
Massachusetts retailers already have implemented pricing verification
systems with Micro Kiosks™ from Symbol Technologies
using Zebra’s QL
320 mobile printers. This wireless system scans and confirms
the price of an item via 802.11b and prints a label for the
consumer upon request with the QL
320.
Many other
states are expected to impose similar laws soon. For more
information on the amended Massachusetts regulation, click
