Meet FDA Drug Bar Code Requirements for Improved Patient Safety

On March 13, 2003, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a new proposed rule that will require pharmaceuticals, biologics, vaccines, blood and blood products, and over-the-counter products commonly used in hospitals to be bar coded at the unit-of-use level. A final rule is expected by the end of the year. Zebra welcomes this rule as an important step in improving patient safety.
