SAP/Zebra Agreement Means Easier Bar Coding for SAP Users.

As a result of an agreement between SAP AG and Zebra, users of SAP® solutions now have a fast and easy way to generate bar codes on demand for asset tracking, compliance labeling, document tracking, and other business productivity improvements.

Thanks to the addition of Zebra’s bar code rendering technology and SAP’s new native Zebra programming language (ZPL®) bar code printer driver, SAP SmartForms capabilities now encompass bar code label design and native, on-demand thermal bar code label printing, and enable users of mySAP™ Business Suite to incorporate bar code label design and printing capabilities into their forms management portfolio.

AIM Offers Guidance on Military's RFID Usage.

The Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility (AIM) RFID Expert Group has published guidelines for the Department of Defense (DoD) as it looks to add radio frequency identification (RFID) usage to its military shipping label in 2005. Clive Hohberger, PhD, Zebra's vice president, technology development, served as primary editor for the guidelines.

The document, "Proposed Guidelines for the Use of RFID-Enabled Labels in Military Logistics: Recommendations for Revision of MIL-STD 129," also serves as an excellent primer on smart labels and the use of EPCglobal and DoD RFID data structures in case and pallet labeling.

A free copy of the guidelines is available through AIM Global's Web site. To download the document, click here.
